About Dan

Hi, I’m Dan — founder of Gentle Rebellions, and a recovering overachiever.

I grew up in China, raised with the belief that we must suffer first to deserve rest. My mom was deeply passionate about Traditional Chinese Medicine — so I grew up with herbal teas, acupressure, and seasonal health routines as part of daily life. Still, I saw it mostly as folk wisdom, not something that could guide how I lived.

After over a decade working in tech, I found myself on the edge of burnout — struggling with insomnia, hormonal issues, digestive discomfort, and a constant feeling of falling behind. I had tried everything: diet plan, fitness goal, productivity hacks... And yet I kept asking myself: Why does even healing feel like more work?

Eventually, I found myself circling back to what had always been quietly there: the principles of TCM. But this time, I went deeper — studying its classical roots in Taoism.

By chance, I discovered classical TCM theories rooted in Taoism—a system focused not just on treating disease, but on understanding humans as whole beings in harmony with nature and the cosmos. Rather than drafting rigid plans to "fix" problems, it taught me to listen deeply to my body’s messages, observe my energy patterns, and receive holistic guidance for mind and body.

This path demands significant practice and unlearning, but I now live by a fundamental truth: Life doesn’t have to feel relentlessly hard. We can flow more effortlessly—not merely avoiding collapse, but thriving with greater vitality.

I was never the rebellious type. But discovering this more effortless way of living felt radically different from what modern society expects of us. It was exciting—and honestly, a little scary.

Gentle Rebellions began as a personal experiment in living more effortlessly. Through ongoing learning and practice, I began to feel real shifts — and as I shared these with friends and clients, I saw how deeply they resonated.

Today, I guide people who are tired of fixing, chasing, and pushing — and who are ready to soften, realign, and live with more flow. Not through pressure, but through presence.

Welcome to the rebellion. I’m so glad you’re here.
